Why a flat price matters as you grow
A commission feels small when sales are small. As your academy grows, a percentage of every sale grows with it, and it never stops. A flat plan price stays the same whether you sell ten courses this month or ten thousand.
The difference is easiest to see over a year. Use the earnings calculator to put in the commission you pay today and compare it with a flat plan price on your own numbers.
What you pay, and to whom
| Cost | Who charges it | How much |
|---|---|---|
| Plan price | TEACHNIQ | Fixed monthly or yearly price, see pricing |
| Commission on sales | TEACHNIQ | 0% |
| Payment processing | Razorpay or Stripe | Their standard fee, paid to them |
Worked example: what a percentage costs at scale
- Course price
- ₹1,999
- Sales per month
- 150
- Money from learners per month
- ₹2,99,850
- 10% commission per sale
- ₹199.90
- 10% commission per month
- ₹29,985
- 10% commission per year
- ₹3,59,820
- Commission on TEACHNIQ
- ₹0
The 10% is an illustration of a commission-based model, not a quote from any company. On TEACHNIQ you pay your plan price whatever you sell, plus your payment provider's own processing fee, which applies on every platform that takes payments.
What the plan price includes
- Unlimited courses and learners on every plan.
- Courses, coaching, memberships, communities, webinars, digital products and mock tests from one academy.
- Your own academy address or your own domain, with free SSL.
- Coupons, bundles, subscriptions, certificates and invoices.
How a sale flows with no middleman
At no point does the sale pass through a TEACHNIQ account, which is why there is nothing for TEACHNIQ to deduct.
- The learner opens your checkout on your own academy address and pays through the payment gateway you connected.
- The gateway keeps its own processing fee and settles the rest to your bank account on its own schedule.
- TEACHNIQ records the order under Transactions and unlocks the product for the learner.
- If you refund, you do it in your Razorpay or Stripe dashboard. With the refund event on the webhook, the refund appears in Transactions and you decide what happens to the learner's access.
Where a flat price helps most
- Low-priced products sold in volume, such as ebooks and templates, where a percentage is taken again and again.
- Memberships and paid communities, where the same learner pays every month or year and a commission would recur with every renewal.
- Busy launches and paid webinars, where a lot of money arrives in a short time.
- Bundles, where a high-value sale would carry a high commission under a percentage model.
Set up once and keep every sale
- Open Settings, then Integrations, then Payment Gateways, and connect Razorpay, Stripe or both. Press Save and activate on the one checkout should use.
- Open a product's Pricing tab and set the price. Paid prices are saved only once a gateway is connected.
- Optionally create a coupon under Coupons for launches. A coupon comes off the price you set, so you only ever give away what you chose to.
- Place a test purchase, then check it under Transactions before you announce the product.
How to see your real numbers
Revenue is shown as paid orders minus refunds, and if you sell in more than one currency each currency is shown on its own and never added together.
- Open Transactions in your admin. Filter by product kind, status or time period; the footer totals the Amount column for everything you filtered, not just the visible page.
- Click any row for the full record: buyer, what they bought, order ID, currency, discount, amount paid, payment gateway and the gateway's reference.
- Use Export page to download the rows you are looking at as a CSV for your accountant or your own sheet.
- Compare that against your Razorpay or Stripe settlement report, which is where the processing fee is shown.
Questions to ask before you pick any platform
- Is there any commission or transaction fee on top of the payment provider's fee?
- Does the money pass through the platform first, or go straight to your own gateway account?
- Are courses, learners, admins or storage capped, and what does the next plan up cost?
- Can you use your own domain, and is the SSL certificate included?
- Are mock tests, communities, webinars and digital products included, or sold as add-ons?
What 0% does not mean
Plans also differ in team seats, storage and some features, so check which plan has what you need on the pricing page.
