Live classes, scheduled inside your course.

In short

TEACHNIQ lets you add live classes to a course, one-off or repeating, using a Microsoft Teams meeting it can create for you or any meeting link such as Zoom or Google Meet. Learners get an email invitation and a Join button that opens 15 minutes before the start.

Add a live class step by step

  1. Open the course, go to Curriculum and scroll to Live Sessions. Press Add live session.
  2. Pick how often it happens and press Continue: Single (one date), Recurring (a start date, an end date and a pattern) or Ongoing (no end date).
  3. Type a session name and set when it starts and when it ends (each has its own date and time, so a session can run past midnight). The line under the times spells out the range and says when it ends the next day.
  4. For Recurring, choose Every day or Every week and tick the weekdays. A recurring session can run for up to 52 weeks. An Ongoing session always keeps the next 12 weeks scheduled and adds more dates as time passes.
  5. Choose the meeting. Microsoft Teams (Recommended) creates the meeting for you when you press Create session. My own link takes a Zoom, Google Meet or any other link, which you can add now or later.
  6. Pick the options: record automatically (Teams only), track attendance, and for repeating sessions, show learners only the next date. Repeating sessions can use one link for every date or a separate meeting per date.
  7. Press Create session. The curriculum shows a series as one card, for example Every week on Tue, Thu, with the next dates listed.

Worked example: a 12-week evening batch

Learners see
One card, a countdown, and Join now from 15 minutes before each class

Times use your academy's time zone. You can change the zone under the times if a particular session should use another.

What learners see

Learners need active access to the course to see the link and the recording.

  • Live sessions in their sidebar, with a countdown to the next class. The sessions of a course also show on that course's page.
  • A Join now button that is grey until 15 minutes before the start and stays on until the session ends. It opens your meeting link.
  • A Mark attendance button in the same window when Track attendance is on, and Attended afterwards.
  • A Watch recording button under Past sessions once you have added a recording link.
  • An email when you schedule a new session for their course. It goes out with the next scheduled run, up to a day later, and sessions that already existed are not announced again.

Manage a session after you create it

Press Manage on a session card to open its own page. It has the Join link (copy it, open it, or swap to your own link), Settings that save as you change them, a Dates table where you can rename a date, remove a date or add a date to a repeating session, Who joined, and Recording.

For a Teams meeting, Who joined shows how many people joined with their name, email, when they joined and left and for how many minutes, and marks the ones who are learners of your academy. Press Refresh attendance once the date has ended, and Export CSV to save the table. Below it, Checked in on TEACHNIQ shows which learners checked in.

The Help Center has short articles on each of these, including "How do I schedule a recurring session (daily, weekly, chosen days)?", "How do I use my own meeting link (Zoom, Meet)?" and "How do learners join a live session?".

Using Microsoft Teams

Academies on a paid plan that includes Live sessions or Webinars get a Microsoft Teams account for hosting. You find it under Settings, then Integrations, then Microsoft Teams, with the login and a status such as Setting up or Ready. While an academy is on a free trial the Teams account is not created; use My own link instead.

If Microsoft cannot be reached when you press Create session, the session is still saved. Its page then says Teams meeting not created yet, and a Retry button creates the meeting.

A webinar is a live session you sell or give away on its own, separate from a course. Create it under Products, then Webinars. The steps are Details, Schedule, FAQ and Pricing, where the first price is free or a one-time registration fee. You can save it as a draft or publish straight away.

Registrants get a confirmation email and a reminder email about a day before. Before the start the page shows a countdown and a waiting room. During the session there is a live chat and Q&A, and an optional offer that appears a set number of minutes in and links to one of your courses, bundles or digital products. The Live room tab has a Start webinar button that switches on 15 minutes before the start.

Webinars take no coupons, and a visitor must be signed in to register or pay.

Recordings

Automatic recording links from Teams into TEACHNIQ are not available yet. If you use Zoom or Google Meet, the recording stays in that tool and you paste its link.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

  • Forgetting the time zone. Check the zone shown under the times before you publish a series.
  • Creating a session with no link and never adding one. The curriculum card shows a chip such as Link not added yet; check it.
  • Expecting a separate countdown email. A course session sends one announcement email; the countdown and Join now button do the rest.
  • Moving a webinar after people have attended. A schedule change is blocked once attendance has been recorded.
  • Leaving recordings in Teams past their 120 day limit.

Checklist before the first class

  • Meeting choice made and a link ready (Teams created, or your own link pasted).
  • Date, times and time zone checked, and the repeat pattern correct.
  • Track attendance switched on.
  • A learner account checked for Join now at 15 minutes before.
  • Where you will save the recording decided.
